My (not so) little baby boy (sniff sniff) reached a giant milestone today. His Buddy Brady came over after preschool and rode his "big boy" bike (no training wheels). This motivated Jack to learn to ride his bike. Not sometime soon. Not this weekend. Not after he turns five. TODAY. I figured we would practice a little while and Daddy could take over this weekend. Jack had other plans. We were on the sidewalk for about 3 solid hours this afternoon. The first launch was so horrific I figured he would NEVER ever ride a two wheeler. He fell over/on top of the handlebars and was holding onto his "boyhood" and crying about how bad bikes are. "I'll never ride this bike again...." Needless to say we were back up within minutes. After a few hours of scrapes, bruises and bandaids, we did it!
And as we were putting the bike away, we heard that familiar sound in the distance...the Ice Cream Lady! I am normally not an "ice cream truck at 4pm" kind of Mom, but I was so proud of him today, he got a Rocket Pop for an afternoon well done!
(and my back hurts so bad from leaning over that peewee sized bike, MY reward will be a glass of wine after Little Lance Armstrong goes to bed!
