Cicada Invasion

For those of you who are lucky enough to NOT live on the East/Northeast side of Cincinnati, you may not have experienced the fun of the Cicadas. They are best described as harmless, big, ugly, slow dumb bugs who fly around for a few weeks making grown men scream (not naming names, here...)and keeping 5 year old boys entertained for hours. Also little girls...(Lily at 4benders.blogspot.com ) is a particular fan of the cicadas, collecting them and driving them around in her bike basket.

Jack was playing the other day and showed me the cicadas that he had just grabbed.

Jack: "Mom look at these cicadas. They are lucky 'cuz they are married."
Mom: "How do you know they are married?"
Jack: "Well look at them kissing"
Me: "Why are they lucky because they are married?"
Jack: "Because they have somebody to play with all day long!"

Yep, that's exactly the example Steve and I set. We frolic around all day playing together in the sunshine, happiness and rainbows!

Well, um, usually it is like that. HAHAHA!!

Between Jack, Ben, Lauren and sounds like Lily, the cicada's will never emerge again. At least in these parts!

Lily is going to CRY when her beloved cicadas are gone.
she will need a new bug to take care of.
maybe lightning bugs.

yeah, last night they were all kinda flopping around on the grass...I guess they are dying. Jack was VERY concerned. He thinks they have a sore throat too.
