Steve called from "work" the other day and asked me if Jack was busy. Of course, he was busy. We spend every day after school together making AWESOME lunches, playing FUN games and learning COOL things and hangin' on the swingset and telling each other how much fun we have when Dad is at work and Riley goes down for a nap. So, yeah, he's busy having superfun quality time with his Mom, but what do ya need?
He asked me to put Jack in his turnout gear and have him ready to go in 5 minutes. OK, don't kid yourself. Riley was asleep. Daddy was offering to pick Jack up mid-afternoon....ummmm....let me think....OK! Can you be here in 3 minutes?!?
That afternoon, the firetrucks were having pump testing-sorry, Steve if I embarrass you by using incorrect fire terminology here- where all the trucks are checked to make sure all the pumping parts and valves and hoses and junk is working properly.
Steve was shuttling trucks to and fro and decided to take Jack along for a ride.
I told jack to put on his gear and wait outside and a BIG surprise was coming. His guesses were as follows.
1. A HUGE rocket ship was coming to take him to Ben's house.(???)
2. An Air Force jet was landing on our street to take him for a ride.
3. He was having a surprise birthday party.(6 months early)
A boy can dream!
Just then we heard a familiar rumble coming down the street...
So he put Jack's little booster seat in the FRONT SEAT (I know, right...gasp) of the firetruck. Because when your 5 year old rides in the front seat of a firetruck, you must make sure he is properly strapped in. I wonder if there are laws about car seats in firetrucks...I digress.
And off they went. And a gloriously quiet afternoon awaited me!
Here are some shots that Steve took at the rock quarry during the testing.
I REALLY need to find a cool hobby.

I don't know how you're ever going to compete with that. LOL! :)
Can I go next time....that looked very cool!
See if you can bring him to our work to see our Robot and someone's insides..
hey Tiffany and I had our hand INSIDE someone's breast on Friday FHO SHO.
How TOTALLY AMAZING!!!
Oh, that is SO cool! My husband used to be a volunteer fire fighter, but left to focus on his doctoral studies when our son was quite young. He knows Daddy was a fireman, but when Daddy dressed up in his uniform for my son's last birthday (it was a Fireman Sam birthday party) he was terrified. I guess he likes firemen when they aren't Daddy!
Fireman Sam is our favorite!! We have a hard time finding him here in the USA.
I made up the invitation from the Fireman Sam website - they have a place where you can design your own card - I just made them into birthday party invitations. We don't have much Fireman Sam merchandise in Australia either.
