Christmas Tree Hunting

We have one single solitary Christmas Tradition. The annual Christmas tree adventure. We started this when my sister and I were probably 12 or 13. My parents would drive us out to east boo-hoo, and we would complain about the cold, and how far the drive was, and CANT WE JUST PICK THIS ONE?!? I even remember once when my sister and I had this horrible rash on our legs and arms from carrying the prickly tree 4 miles back to the car.**ok, the distance might be a SLIGHT exaggeration**
Anyway, I am glad we were forced to do this every year, because now that I have my own kids to torture...I mean my own little ones, it is nice to have this tradition. We still go with my parents and I think now we enjoy it as much as they do.

The last few years we have gone to Young's Dairy Farm just outside of Yellow Springs, Ohio, which is just outside of Dayton...I've lost you now, haven't I? You mention Dayton and eyes start to glaze over....
Anyway, there is a restaurant there where we have a HUGE breakfast then we set off to chop the tree. The good thing is, the farm isn't too big, so it isn't too bad of a walk even if it is really cold and snowy (which is was...YAY!!)and you have to lug around toddlers stuffed into snowsuits and boots.

They have these cool little sleds that you can pull the kids in. Then when you cut the tree you can throw it into the sled. (here is where the toddler-in-snowsuit-lugging begins)

We stopped for a picture, but SOMEONE couldn't keep her tongue in her mouth...and I forgot to take off my shades...

Jack helping daddy saw the tree

And finally after 5000 shots, we got a good one!

Merry Christmas!

I love Young's! I've never had breakfast there, though. I used to love their raw milk. It came in gallon jugs and the top part of the the jug was cream....soooooo goooooood. :) They don't sell it raw anymore, b/c one person out of all the guests they've had in fifty years of business got sick...and said it was b/c of the raw milk. Bah humbug.
